HOMECOMING 2005

Homecoming 2005 saw three major Beta Phi happenings. First, on Friday night, seven members were inducted into the Beta Phi Hall of Honor. The ceremony was standing room only and the event continues to grow and mature each year. John Norton '50, Dennis Lyon '58, and Frank White '63 were members from the class of 2004 presented and inducted at Homecoming 2005. Major General David M. Jones USAF (Ret.) '36, Carl Weiler '54, were both in attendance to accept their class of 2005 inductions. Philip McLaughlin '43 and Charles "Bumps" Triplett '33 were honored posthumously.

The second major happening was D.J. Buttke '83 unveiling the architectural rendering for the future Beta Phi. The architectural committee of Brother Buttke, Dave Firth '93, and Brad Dudley '94 did an incredible job capturing the look of the historic 1510 E. 1st Street facility. A brief presentation on the future campaign and operational plans, checks and balances was presented by Joe Beers '83.

Saturday the Sigma Chi Alumni tent was among the most active tents on the mall prior to the football game. Hundreds of Sigs, wives and children stopped by the mall for fun, refreshments and nostalgia. The CATS of course went on to stomp the UCLA Bruins to everyone's delight. We saw old friends and made new ones. We also saw an exciting peak into what the future holds for UofA football and the re-establishment of Beta Phi Chapter. The future of both looks bright!
